We’re excited to announce that Garmin integration will be available very soon! We know you’re excited and we can’t wait to unveil it. The original plan was to use the Garmin Connect API to sync your workouts. Garmin allowed us early access to develop this integration. Unfortunately, things at Garmin have been delayed and the API is not available just yet. Instead of waiting, we’ve decided to develop a temporary workaround solution. We’ve been using this solution internally and we’ll be opening it up to everyone once we’re satisfied with the testing. We hope to make it available within the next week or two.

We’re super excited to announce that the inaugural ambassadors for the dailymile team have been selected! We received an incredible response after announcing the team and were blown away by the number of applicants. Team members were chosen because they represent the community, both on and offline. We were only able to accept a small number of the applicants for this initial round (a little less than 1/3 of the total).

The team’s mission is to promote the activities we love by inspiring and motivating others. The ambassadors will be going out in their local communities to bring together dailymilers and meet new people. All along the way, they’ll be sharing their stories and pictures from meetups on the soon to be announced community blog. We got a ton of new ideas from all the applications.

Without further ado, meet the team:

You can follow the team members at their Twitter account @dailymileteam and we’ll be launching a community blog later this week where they’ll get a chance to introduce themselves. We’ll be growing the team in the near future and we’ll let everyone know when applications are open again.

Happy New Year, dailymilers! 2009 was an incredible year for us and 2010 is shaping up to be even better. We’re excited today to announce an initiative that’s going to be a huge part of that: team dailymile!

We’re putting together a team to recognize the most enthusiastic dailymilers. It’s not about how fast you are, but about how passionate you are. If you’re excited to help grow the community of active dailymilers then this is an opportunity to have a big impact.

As a dailymile ambassador you represent the community, both on and offline. We’ve been having lots of meetups all across the country recently and the team will help make organizing them more frequent and easier. Ambassadors will help find more ways to connect dailymilers and to welcome new ones. You’ll get to rock dailymile gear at races (yes, we’re finally getting tech ts!) and we’re setting up a community blog that team members will post to. If you’ve already got a presence on Twitter/Facebook and you’re comfortable on video and like to take pictures then that’s an added bonus!

Members of the team get a special badge to display on their profile. We’re working hard to get the team great deals from sponsors and we’re printing some really awesome tech ts. (You can see the stickers that are coming too!) If that’s not cool enough, we’ll be letting team members beta test new features that we’re working on.

We’re still working out some of the details so consider this a test phase. We hope you’re as excited about the potential as we are! So, what are you waiting for? Apply now!

UPDATE: We’ve received a ton of submissions already and we’ll be reviewing them over the next week. If you do apply, please spend some time thinking about why you’d be such a great addition! We’d love to hear any ideas you have for the team too.

Introducing a homepage that matches your running and cycling speed! The site is significantly faster now with the enhancements that we’ve made.

With the speed comes an improved layout. The site navigation is now better organized and paves the way for some exciting features that we’re working on. (Many of the items that were in the header previously you’ll now find under the new Community drop-down menu.) You’ll also notice two new feed filters on your homepage: one for popular entries and one to show you local entries. It’s now a single click to discover what athletes in your area are doing or to see popular entries from the community.

New Training Analytics

There’s a new Training tab in the top navigation with a new section called Analytics. In addition to graphing more data, you can now also group your training by week and month! Just like on your profile, you can hover over a bar to see the workouts that make up that data point. We’ve also placed colored markers on the graph to indicate when you completed your fastest, longest, most intense, and most commented on workouts. You’ll see the top 5 for each of these categories for the selected period below the graph.

The new training section is a work-in-progress, but it’s a feature we’re super excited about. Rather than overwhelming you with every single data point, we want to make it easy to gain insights into your training. We’ve got lots more planned for this section and you’ll see some exciting updates in the near future!

As always, we’d love to hear your feedback. Let us know what you like, dislike, or want to see added.

On another note, dailymilers just broke 3 million miles logged on Wednesday! There’s serious training going on. Keep up the good work. We’ll see you on dailymile.

We’re super excited to announce a big change today: you have a new profile! We’ve been having great discussions with the community since we launched last December and we’ve been working hard to put that feedback to work. Your profile page is now completely redesigned to be more personal and better embody what you’ve told us dailymile means to you and how you use it. We’re thrilled with the results and we hope you are too.

In addition to everything else the redesign affords, the new profile pages are also going to allow for more customization. We’ve got some really cool ideas that we’ll be rolling out in the future.

What’s new?

We’ve made some huge improvements to the graph of training on the profile. We’ve added more stats to the weekly summary (you can see how you felt on average for a week!) and you can hover over any of the bars to see a breakdown of the workouts that comprise the day. Lots of people have been asking about viewing past training and we’ve added that too. You can scroll through different weeks of training by using the arrows to the left and right of the graph.

Another change we’re really excited about is the new Wall of Motivation. It’s a great way to see all the motivation you or someone else has received. Use it to get motivated or to give yourself a pat on the back for all the training you’ve been putting in. You can view your wall by clicking the ‘Motivations’ link on the sidebar.

2,000,000 miles logged

Woah, it seemed like just yesterday we were announcing one million miles logged. In less than three months we’ve already doubled that. Keep rocking your training everyone!

We’re really excited about the changes today and there’s a bunch more stuff in the works. Please let us know what you think!

We’d love to be one of the products they review. Here’s a snippet from their first post:

“Each Friday, I will put to the test e-tools, gadgets and applications that aim to track runners’ progress and help train for the big run. I hope you’ll e-mail me your own tips, tools or other e-wizardry at nytmarathon@gmail.com.” – http://gadgetwise.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/05/22/marathon-tech-review-nike-ipod/

If you have a few minutes, drop them an email them and let them know how dailymile has been helpful in your training. Thanks so much!

Did you know this year, as a community, we’ve run over 9 times around the world and worn through over 800 pairs of shoes? You can now track several of these stats on the new You vs Friends and Everyone tabs.

There’s a new social leaderboard as well. Find out who is the most inspirational, humorous, the biggest socialite, and who has the best karma. Other features include: a new dashboard design, calorie tracking, and the ability to export your training data.

We hope this new update allows you to better analyze your training and continues to make logging your miles fun and easy. Enjoy the new features, and let us know if you have any suggestions!
